I am about to setup an old PC as a Linux (Ububtu) server. One thing I would like to do is to run Slimserver on it. Currently I run Slimserver under XP with it configured to use my iTunes music library. Given that I cannot run iTunes on Linux I'm struggling with determining how I can proceed.
Amongst other things, I use iTunes to rip my CDs. I would happily continue to do this on my XP machine and copy the resultant music files to Linux. However, as I have things configured at the moment, Slimserver makes use of the "iTunes Music Library.xml" file (e.g. it pickes up volume adjustments from there). I guess I could copy that file also to Linux, but would Slimserver recognise it? I guess I have two basic questions: 1. On Linux, what is the effect (if any) of having Slimserver "Server Settings > Basic Settings > Use iTunes" set on? 2. Does anyone know of a successful of way of running Slimserver on Linux but still integrated with iTunes? Any ideas much appreciated. -- Tradewind25 Geoff J. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tradewind25's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8432 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42255 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
