I'm playing around with Linux, with a view to moving my SqueezeCenter
off the household Windows server. Since my test machine is an old
500MHz AMD K6-2, I have installed a minimal Debian 4.0 system - no
GUI.

I followed the instructions in the wiki for installing SqueezeCenter
7.0 (using apt-get), and all seemed to go well. However, I couldn't
connect a web browser to the server on port 9000 in order to configure
it. After switching off all firewalls and confirming it was not that, I
looked for some logs and found /var/log/squeezecenter/server.log, which
has this error message:

\"SQUEEZECENTER DIED. RESTARTING\"

which repeats every 5 seconds.

So it's clear that something is not well and causing SC7.0 to keep
crashing.

I presume that to diagnose this I will need to shut down Squeezecenter
and try to run it manually with some suitable debug flags. But three
questions occur to me:

1. Which debug flags to set?
2. Where will the debugging output go?
3. Will I also need to run mysql manually, and if so, how?
