VMware does seem a tad excessive... I can do what I want with mpg123 easily enough by simply setting the output device to /dev/audio0, /dev/audio1, /dev/audio2 etc. And of course SoftSqueeze or slimp3slave will output to a specific audio device.
The problem (at least until I set something up to test this) is that SlimServer seems to recognise each player (SliMP3, Squeezebox, Transporter or whatever) by its MAC address. So how would it cope with multiple output devices on the same MAC address? Might just try running two copies of SoftSqueeze on my desktop PC and see if that'll work. If it does then no problem. Was just wondering if anyone had tried this before I spend ages messing with it. Had thought about just using an amplifier with multiple speaker outputs but I've ruled that out. I need to be able to control the volume independently in all zones for starters. And I may not want the same music playing at all locations. -- Squirrel ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Squirrel's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5785 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43149 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
