Please confirm that your build of mplayer plays the ac3 file OK through your PC speakers from a command line. If it does post the log with a "-v" option to get details on output. If it doesn't there is no point doing more work until correct command line options are determined.
If it plays, the command line below should work as long as the rest of the conf and types files are OK.
