MIP doesn't assign genres itself but picks up info from the tags inside
the files when it validates them.  I had a couple of genres showing in
MIP which I swore did not even exist and did not show up against the
particular tracks when looked at with various tagging softwares, but it
turned out I had both ID3v1 and ID3v2 tags assigned to these with
different data for genres.

I used Audio Tag Tool - which is in the repos - which clearly shows
both types of tag for any file.  This identified the problem and let me
fix it.  There is a bulk tag setting function which is useful for
changing or deleting tags on several files at once which helped here.
You might want to take a look at some of your BB King songs with this.
