Hi everybody,

I'm new in this forum but I also did some searches here and googled for
it, but there is still a question.

I'm interrested in the Squeezebox Duet, but before purchase I wanted to
try the functionnalities. So I prepared a "box" running Linux (based on
a P3 1GHz / 512 Mb RAM), configured with a basic Debian Etch. It runs
openssh, samba and squeezecenter, all installed using apt-get install
xxx (added the debian.slimdevices.com source in sources.list).

All is working now very well, and I made several tests using for
listening SoftSqueeze, iTunes and Winamp on a Windows machine, and
mpg123 on the Linux box (the same running the server). I also tried the
Telcanto PDA remote control which works fine, even if I don't find it
"beautiful", well, no matter I will buy this Duet funny remote !

But in every player I tried (SoftSqueeze, iTunes, Winamp, mpg123), I
have a delay of approx 4 sec. between a new song starting in the
SqueezeCenter interface and the "real" start I hear ... Thought it was
because of some buffering, but even by setting the buffering to minimum
values in Winamp, I have the same delay ...

Does anyone know if there is the same delay using the "real" SqueezeBox
receiver ? And if yes, why is there a delay on "soft" players and how
can we get rid of this ???

(I thought I could put my silent linux box near the HiFi using an
optical-out enabled sound card to listen in the living room, while the
"official" receiver could be used in the Bedroom)

Thanks a lot for answering !
