Trying to run softsqueeze on a Mandriva 2008.0 box (under KDE). Dowloaded and installed 3.5 zip version from web and it runs and finds SqueezeCenter server on another machine.
The issue is audio. There are three possible selections shown: (1) Audigy2 [plughw:0,0], (2) Audigy2 [plughw:0,3], and (3) Java Sound Audio Engine. #1 sounds great, but SS hangs anytime you try to skip tracks, etc., and has to be restarted. This happens whether skip using either the SS controls or do it from SC. In either case, SC skips to the track and shows it playing, but no sound and SS display stuck at point where hit skip. Restarting player restarts whatever track SC is playing. But obviously very annoying. #2 doesn't have the hanging issues, but hear fairly frequent pops in the audio. #3 just plain sounds rotten (thought I was accidentally playing MP3s rather than flac files). I don't understand why two ALSA audio devices are being shown, and I don't know why the other issues. Anyone know anything that would help or have any other suggestions?
