Thanks for your efforts, Pat. The reason I wanted to do a "browse music folder" action instead of a rescan is that I have podcasts hitting the folder at various times of the day. Doing a rescan of the whole library every hour seems excessive when all I want to do is add the contents of 1 folder to the database.
The podcasts are grabbed using bashpodder.shell and cron. There's another cron job that cleans up the podcast folder by removing any files older than 10 days. The reason I want to periodically scan that directory is because when I want to listen to one of the podcasts, it takes a minute or two for SqueezeCenter to display the files when I Browse Music Folder to the podcast directory. No doubt this is because there are new files SqueezeCenter hasn't seen before, and also files missing that SqueezeCenter thinks should be there (anything 10+ days old). So, this is about eliminating the 1-2 minutes I wait for SC to show me the files. -- Pale Blue Ego ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pale Blue Ego's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=110 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49213 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
