As far as the SMF manifests look here:

SlimServer:
http://blogs.sun.com/warren/entry/update_running_slimserver_on_solaris
MySQL: http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/content/submitted/mysql_smf_tip.html

Those are the pages where I got my manifests from. The new wiki
software won't allow me to upload my startup scripts or manifests (it
only seems to allow images). Modify any paths accordingly.

As for disabling Encode-Detect, check this out:

A nice little tip if you plan to upgrade SqueezeCenter often (run
nightlies) is to let the tarball create it's directory but don't rename
it. Make a symlink to it called squeezecenter. In all of your scripts
refer to the directory as squeezecenter. When I do an upgrade, all I
do is unpack the source tarball, copy all of my prefs, plugins,
playlists, convert.conf, and startup script from the old directory.
Run the build-perl-modules.pl and when that's done stop the old version
of SqueezeCenter via SMF. Change the squeezecenter symlink to the new
directory and run the script once by hand to catch any new warnings or
things you missed. When you're happy that it's working kill the
process and restart it via SMF. This way you don't have to modify any
of your SMF scripts or manifests.
