I used to run SlimServer on XP but hated not having my music available
when I had to reboot for something stupid. I popped for a new hard
drive, DVD ROM drive, and some RAM and put together my Solaris 10 box
from some spare parts. The only thing that will stop it is a power
outage.

My wife uses iTunes and before she started buying DRM tracks I had a
zone setup for an instance of SlimServer for her music. That was cool.
My SlimServer + MySQL in the global zone and her SlimServer in the
sparse root zone. Worked really well. I might do it again when my
daughter gets a little older and gets her first Squeezebox...
