Hi Ian,

Have you mounted the drive like this? for example:

mount -t ext3 /dev/sda1 /mnt/external

This is how I would mount partition sda1 under a folder called
/mnt/external, assuming the drive is formatted as ext3. I can then
browse to this in settings on squeezecentre. The drive shouldn't need
to be in fstab.

You could also use a link from the folder you are using under
squeezecentre to the external drive.
