I don't think the answer to your question will be of much help for you. Lots of folks run SqueezeCenter on one of the currently big distros such as Fedora, Suse, Debian, Ubuntu. In addition there are also a whole bunch of various NAS'es (which are usually based on some minimal Linux installation).
Any choice of OS will potentially give some problems of one or the other kind. Many of these problems have trivial fixes once you know how. Linux's in general are, for a variety of reasons, very well suited for running SqueezeCenter. Don't know how you proceeded, but its generally a good idea to stick with a choice once you've taken it. If you run into problems, provide as many details as possible and post in e.g. this forum. That way it is easier for others to get an idea of whats going on, and be able to provide advice.
