Just been struggling with my first ever install of Squeezecenter (or
Slimserver) on Ubuntu 8.04.

Thought it would be a piece of cake, just add the repository, start
squeezecenter and browse to my server.

Install went fine, no errors, and starting with

sudo /etc/init.d/squeezecenter start

worked i.e. no errors. Couldn't find a log file
-/var/lib/squeezecenter.log is mentioned in the bug report linked above
(http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=7580) but that didn't
exist.

I had to use sudo because it kept claiming:

"Unable to open pidfile `/var/run/squeezecenter.pid' for writing:
Permission denied (Permission denied)"

Note, I could chmod 777 the file, but it just fell over on one thing
after another, so I assumed that working with sudo would be the way
forward!

When I browse to my server, which would be 192.168.1.3:9000 in my case,
firefox (2 or 3) just hangs.

I've checked the apparmor file mentioned above and it already had the
entries, stopping apparmor and restarting squeezecenter made no
difference, browser still hangs - just "loads" for a while then times
out.

I've got Squeezecenter working perfectly on my Eee 701 with Gutsy
installed.

Sorry if I'm on the wrong thread, but having trouble diagnosing the
problem. Does this browser hanging/timing out relate to some of the
problems discussed here? Not sure how to a) find out if squeezecenter
is having problems or b) find out if it is, say mysql permissions or
other group permissions.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks
