Is the Geode LX powerful enough to run SC, perl and MySQL? Does it have an FPU? (If not, it might severely affect transcoding).
It's too bad that the Intel Atom is currently saddled with such a high-power, hot chipset (Intel 945). The Atom isn't exactly the best performer but it ought to be better than the Geode. Both the Asus eeePC "desktop" and the MSI Wind come with the Atom but also the 945.
