I am currently using a Intel Atom single core 945GCLF for a headless server. It acts as my squeezecenter server, storage server, as well as home automation control. I only has one squeezebox so the cpu load while transcoding stream only takes a few percents. Unless you have a large number of squeezeboxes streaming at the same time, the atom is good enough for job. Having said that, I would recommend getting the dual core atom instead as the price difference is minimal. Also, the intel board is quite power hungry. The system takes about 27W during idle with three 3.5" drives sleeping. You may want to look for other vendors using the 945 Express chipset instead. -- Honva ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Honva's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14948 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56092 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
