Fixed it - *thanks for speedy and helpful replies*. I this the root of
the problem was that I had not run

perl-after-upgrade -f
--------------------
to actually make the changes listed by

--------------------
perl-after-upgrade
--------------------
. I ran that, and then ran
Code:
--------------------
portmaster --check-depends
--------------------
to ensure dependencies are correct and then was able to start
Squeezecenter 7.3.2.
