Just to add my view.. I moved over to Linux (Ubuntu) about a year ago and dual boot with XP, I use Linux 95% of the time then Windows for my iPhone updating.
The whole user experience for me is a lot better, its quicker, safer and more intuitive - not to mention the masses of free apps and great user support.
