Ok, I will go for the desktop version. I want to have it on 24/7, but it is costly if it is running at normal speed even when not used for several hours.
To use it as a Squeezebox server and fileserver I only have to install Ubuntu, Samba and SC and hook it up to my switch? 99% of the job is SC-serving.
