This doesn't sound like the problems I've experienced. My problems were with an SB1, and my symptoms were trouble syncing and occasional drop outs. As it was explained by a Logitech employee, the server is single threaded and some plugins can cause delays which cause the older SB1 to have problems. It's not an issue with devices which are SB2 or newer though.
My Squeezebox 3 wireless hangs have generally been problems where the SB freezes and it seems to get stuck "rebuffering..." and just hangs, usually until I unplug it.
