Thanks for the fantastic advice, bpa. It worked!

I downloaded the ia32-libs via the Terminal, and after a restart of the
squeezeboxserver (I'm not sure if that was necessary), the files now
make dreamsounds on my speakers. 

(I know I can't hear higher frequencies than 20kHz (probably lower),
but there is still a "feel-good" factor with "hi-rez files", and
besides, this spesific musicfiles is often made of audiofile
recordings. So it was important to be able to play them).
