Just ordered the components for an Atom based music server that I intend
to run headless. Will remote into it with VNC from my MacBook whenever
I need to do something with the server, which will be rare (hopefully.)
My question for the community is: VortexBox or Ubuntu 9.10?

My current rig is an old P4 power hog running Ubuntu 9.04. It was a
pain to setup, but has been running fine. Biggest problem is that it
refuses to truly run headless. Ubuntu gives a monitor error on boot
(and doesn't finish the boot process) if it doesn't detect a monitor
connected, so I have an old unused monitor connected just to make sure
the system will boot. Whatever I do for the new system needs to
eliminate this.

Anyone know if the monitor boot issue still exists in Ubuntu 9.10? Can
VortexBox run headless?
