I have Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop (currently upgrading to 10.04) running on a
Dell Vostro 200 system, and connected by ethernet to my router. All
works well usually, however, anytime I reboot the system, the wired LAN
seems really slow, causing frequent re-buffering when I am playing FLAC
files (no problem if I transcode to mp3 320). If I physically
disconnect the ethernet plug and reconnect it in a few seconds, the
problem seems to usually go away. After that I can play multiple FLAC
or uncompressed stream without any problem. I think this behavior has
been around since I upgraded to 9.04 nearly a year ago, but since I
don't reboot frequently, I haven't bothered too much. Any idea what
could be happening here?
