Try using the "browse" button in the SBS settings when specifying the music library location, instead of typing in the location. It may yield some clues.
One thought: besides inserting the SD card, are you doing a logical mount of the SD card? That is, using the 'mount' command or adding a line to your /etc/fstab file?
