really excels at, it's encouraging purchases of ever larger hard disks
as we all grow our music libraries. Consequently, I found myself with
a stack of 3 no-longer-used 1T drives. I thought I would softraid them
in my linux development machine and use it as backup storage. Since
this is an old and slow machine, I thought that stripping away some of
the device layers might be a good idea. Having btrfs do it all seemed
neat and easy. That said and after a little more investigation, I
think you're right and I'll need to go back to mdadm & raid 5. But I
don't understand what sandwiching LVM under ext4 would get me. I'm not
questioning the wisdom of this...I just don't understand.
