Hi gaskit I had the same problem after a clean Mythbuntu install. I solved it by uninstalling mythtv (in synaptic), then install LMS7.7 and then install mythtv. The trick seems to be to install LMS first and then mythtv. I do not know what cause this problem but it seems that the mythtv install corrects whatever the LMS does wrong.
