Yes for Squeezelite - it will support the spotify plugin, (Squeezeslave

Easy answer is to use the one I've posted on the googlecode page.  That
is just a build using the standard makefile on the Pi itself.

The name will be the name the server gives the player at that specific
mac address (as the server knows about players via the mac address). 
You can reset the name via the -n command line param or reset it in the
server settings page for the player.

Yep - but not working well with my dac yet... :( looks like a usb
problem with some devices which is why I asked on this thread what other
people's experiences are to try to narrow down the problem...
