FYI, my Pi has the hard float Raspbian wheezy OS installed, and both versions of Squeezelite (ie. armv6 and armv6hf) work fine on it.
I would like to add my vote of thanks to Triode for his sterling work. I had previously been playing around with both Squeezeslave and Squeezeplay on the Pi - both had their issues.
