I realeased a new version with Loudness correction for listening at low volumes. See ISO 226, Loudness or Fletcher Munson at Wikipedia for more information. Basically it uses the sox loudness feature for attenuation (volume decrease), so that the audio is only getting quieter without a change in the loudness between bass, mid and treble.
My first testing with this is quite promising in a low to mid volume level environment. It works on Squeezebox 2, Classic and on the software player squeezelite. It is not tested on other players or hardware. I should be able to support other devices if the need arises and someone reports what device needs to be supported.
