I wish I can say my experience with the pi and my one dac which is a
24/192 bit dac using the c-media 6631 chip. No matter what I do I can
not get clean sound out of the unit. The same goes with hdmi, the output
has blips and clicks in the audio. My other dac which is a usb audio
class 1.0 with a max of 16/44.1K bit rate works well with the pi. I ran
some tests with my new dac on a computer running linux mint 14.
Configured alsa and removed pulseaudio and the new dac works pretty
well. Still have the issue with switching between different rates, but
the audio output is clean and sounds great. So I have come to the
conclusion that the pi's usb has issues working with usb audio class
2.0. Hopefully this can be worked out with updates to the pi's usb
drivers?

For now I will be using a spare amd E-350 latop running linux mint 14 to
stream my music to the new dac. I will have to rethink my 2 channel
setup for my livingroom. In other words, due I return my new dac and get
something like the cambridge dacmagic plus that is known to work well
with linux or do I give up on using the pi with this setup and find
another squeezelite client solution.
