Hi everybody and especially Triode, thanks for this awesome piece of software! This is really useful and saved me from spending a lot of money on Sonos equipment. I'd like to share my experiences. My current setup is 2 Raspberries and a TPLINK MR 3020 Router with OpenWRT (MIPS), all of them running the latest (12.12.12) git pull. This works quite well once it is setup and rolling. I found some annoyances, of which one seems to be unrelated to squeezelite. It is the really narrow choice of external usb connected sound cards which can be used for the RasPi. Right now I found a Terratec Aureon II working, and a Behringer UCA202 not (with the common problem of a lot of pops/crackles). This seems to stem from the problems with the USB bus on the Raspi, probably aggravated cause they run on WiFi with a usb connected wifi stick. Switching ports on a powerded usb hub changes the acousitc (crackle) impressions, but I did not find a solution for the Behringer UCA202. Right now one Raspi gives out audio over it's internal soundcard (wokring ok without bigger disturbances), the other one over USB to Nubert Nupro A20 speakers (the inbuilt card in those works nice as well). All this on Archlinux ARM. The third player is the tiny TPLink router on the Aureon II. This MIPS device seemingly also has the same problems with the Behringer card. Adding additional x86 laptop clients is no problem as well.
Another problem I found (been running this setup for two weeks 24/7 now) is that every now and then a squeezelite process (almost every night, always when they are not in use) halts. Sometimes the client vanishes from LMS, sometimes not. If I have a "ghost" like that, no player in the sync group starts playing until I restart the hanging process. As this for me is no problem (quick ssh; restart process), this is a killer for my gf ;-) and gives some bad vibes when I return from work in the evening... I'm very willing to help debug this problem, but might need a hand as to where to direct my search. GDB? Trace? Anything else? Also, I was thinking of setting up a small watchdog to auto-restart an unresponsive squeezelite. Any ideas on how to identify a stalled squeezelite process? Cheers and thanks for this awesome program! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Raspi+MIPS's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58448 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97046 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
