Thanks! I'm afraid I'm stuck with this - SWMBO is complaining about the system going on & off every time I make some edit!
At least I've convinced myself it actually works in principle. What would be nice - but probably not possible - would be an extra option in the actual player interface which could switch between outputs. At the moment I'll have to stick with the daemonized version installed by truehl's squeezeplug.
