Indeed it does! Running in the foreground it says [07:48:41.813374] output_thread:663 disabling output when powered off. I didn't check that properly, because it always says 'open output device' at start. Looking at the 'lsof' output one can see whether squeezelite or xbmc.bin do have the device open.
