I don't think it is. I did a little research on the MCIMX28LCD a month
or so ago. I had a quick look at the sabre lite board init, which does
support the MCIMX28LCD and that appears to be using the LCD driver to
support it...

Code:
--------------------

  /* 800x480 @ 57 Hz , pixel clk @ 27MHz */
  "CLAA-WVGA", 57, 800, 480, 37037, 40, 60, 10, 10, 20, 10,
  FB_SYNC_CLK_LAT_FALL,
  FB_VMODE_NONINTERLACED,
  0

--------------------

Whereas the "mystery" AUO 97G070, is using the LDB (LVDS Display
Bridge) driver....

Code:
--------------------

  /* 800x480 @ 60 Hz , pixel clk @ 32MHz */
  "LDB-WVGA", 60, 800, 480, 29850, 89, 164, 23, 10, 10, 10,
  FB_SYNC_CLK_LAT_FALL,
  FB_VMODE_NONINTERLACED,
  0

--------------------

I also STR reading that the MCIMX28LCD is a 16 bit panel. The AUO 97G070
LVDS LCD is 24 bit capable from the code.
