I tested the 1.0 version from google code, just wrote it on a 512Mo sd
card, no configuration whatsoever except on config.txt uncomment the
hdmi_drive line and it works perfectly !

I have tested it with only flac files, rip from CD (44.1khz/16bits), HD
(newest Daft Punk in 88.2khz/24bits, Muse in 96khz/24bits and Woodkid in
96khz/24bits), all through HDMI.

No cracks, no noise, no buffer great :)

I will test tomorrow with some low res Mp3 but I don't see why it
wouldn't work, I didn't test with higher frequency than 96Khz because I
don't have any audio like that, so I don't know if the Pi can cope with
that kind of bitrate (plus it's extremely rare to have these kind of
recordings.

You did a great job, the Pi becomes a truly hifi component, no need to
add expensive USB dac, if you have a nice receiver/processor with hdmi
input.
