LOL. No more PM's or emails, please. I'll clarify here.... 1. We do not have an issue with funding. We do not need a financial backer. We do not need to set up a "project" on one of the pledge funding sites. If we need to fund the production of 400 CSP2 boards, without taking a penny in advance from end users, not a problem.
2. Why are you asking for money to test a beta board? One of the reasons is this.... If we offered to send out 20 "free" boards, everyone and his dog would want one, just because it was free. (Psychology 101: People don't tend to place much value on anything they get for free.) People who are willing to pay for the board are only going to pay, because they actually want what the product does, not just because it is free. These are the people that will use and test the board, and give us the feedback, which is the whole point of doing a hardware beta, rather than it just being put to one side for a rainy day. 3. No-one is being "priced out" of the "project". If you bought a WB or contributed in any way, whether that just be by posting to one of the CSOS threads since they started back in February, but can't afford the $$$$'s for a beta board, not now but when the time comes, when we start to make plans to place the order for the fabrication of the CSP1 boards, send me a PM. I wouldn't want to see anyone "priced out" of participating in the hardware beta. Money isn't the deciding factor. This is a community project, not a Ponzi scheme! 4. Thank you for the kind offers of blank cheques and to pay more..... ;) If I ever need someone else to pick up the bill for a 6 week, round the world cruise, I now know who to ask. The bottom line is, and the question was, would the "enthusiasts" be willing to put their hand in their pockets and contribute to making the "public" beta hardware board a reality? And the answer was, an emphatic yes! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JackOfAll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3069 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=98544 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
