The Mytek needs 3 levels of firmware. After loading each level it disconnects from the USB bus en reconnects. This should trigger the next firmware load, with Linux this does not happen all the time. So if you're unlucky you need to do the rmmod && modprobe thing thrice, if you're luck not at all. Maybe udev or some other component interferes on Linux. Still need more time to investigate properly.
