Triode, You were right about the OS. It really makes day and night difference.
This weekend, I tried squeezeplug first but did not get the crackles and popping sound out of my TWO USB DAC. I then switched back to picoplayer, which simply could not be found by the LMS without DHCP in my office. This time, with the help of my home wifi router, it shows up almost instantly in the LMS. However, getting it works with my USB DAC is another story. Thanks God, I finally get it works quite perfectly with my TWO USB DAC after almost 5 hours. I am planning to write that story in picoplayer thread instead of here. I am so thankful to you because it is so easy to use and sounds so great. It is way way way better than my PCs and Notebooks. I have a few questions concerning about sound quality tweaks for squeezelite: 1. -a <b>:<p>:<f>:<m> b is the buffer time in ms, it should be lower the better. How about p, f and m? I set -a 40:4 now, sounds very good but occasionally short "zap" sound occurs. Setting it to -a 100:4 sounds a lot worse but the "zap" sound also occurs randomly. Could you explain a bit about these switches? 2. -b <stream>:<output> I saw your reply that the squeezebox touch is like -b 2048:3446. Would it affects the sound quality leaving it as default? 3. -m <mac addr> Does it matter if I leave it as default? 4. Except upsampling (-u), is that any other switches you recommend to try? 5. I have one Aysnc (TE8802) and one Adaptive (TE7022) USB DACs. How do I know it is really working in Async Mode? 14993 14994 6. I run cat /proc/asound/card0/stream0, the running status show me the momentary freq = 48004 Hz even I am playing 44100 Hz, What is wrong? 7. If I play 24bit 96KHz file, is that a command to show me that it is really output in 24bit 96KHz?
