Clive - this is exactly the way I am running at the moment.  I did first
boot it up with a HDMI screen to check out Jive, but really don't need
that functionality much so have gone to headless.  Will be happy to
carrying on testing in that configuration.  

One thing i've done to the R6 image is to move the entire root directory
to a 2.5" SATA drive and point the boot config and fstab to that drive. 
Makes a big difference to the boot time, but is going to mean a lot more
trouble when it needs upgrading!  

I'm also running it as a NAS for serving files across my network (samba
and nfs) and installed mysql to do the database for my XBMC setups.  So
far it has worked very well and I'm sure impresses with the Wandboard
and the efforts you and the team have put in to get it to this stage -
