I like the idea the Jivelite can be used in other contexts than the
CSOS, so having Adrian's code changes such as while addr == nil do
sleep(1) and while initTime < 1000000000 do sleep(1) seem to be good
defensive programming anyway, even if most other systems don't suffer
from RTC issues.

I am going to test Adrian's change since I can usually trigger the
freeze by removing power long enough for the relevant power supply cap
to drain such that the RTC loses its memory.  Will reply here after my
experiments are complete.
