So... the short answer to your question is: yes. LMS and Perl 5.18 can work.

Logitech Media Server-Status
Logitech Media Server Version: 7.8.0 - TRUNK @ UNKNOWN
Hostname: aptosidbox
IP-Adresse des Servers: 192.168.0.42
Server-HTTP-Portnummer: 9000
Betriebssystem: Debian - DE - utf8
Plattformarchitektur: x86_64-linux
Perl-Version: 5.18.1 - x86_64-linux-gnu-thread-multi
Datenbankversion: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)

The longer answer will be how we're going to build/integrate this.

I worked through the list using cpan directly, only to find the last
modules Tie::RegexpHash refuses to build against perl 5.18. Oh,
b****r.   The reports are here:

http://www.cpantesters.org/distro/T/Tie-RegexpHash.html#Tie-RegexpHash-0.15

Hmm... I didn't get any error message related to this module. It just worked.
