Please forgive this really basic question, I have tried to google without much success. I have just purchased an HP Microserver on which I have installed Ubuntu and SB server and which I will eventually run headless. I thought I would try and get WOL working on this, which I have never used before. While installing Ubuntu I was required to set a username and password and I have to enter these whenever the computer is switched on. My question is, will I need to enter username and password each time the computer is WOL'd? If so, it sort of negates the uselfulness of WOL as I will have to treck the length of the house to do so and attach a keyboard and screen. If this is the case, then I suppose disabling the requirement for logging in with username and password is an option although insecure? How do people handle this?
