I finally took the plunge and got a Wandboard Quad a couple weeks ago. I installed whatever full CSOS image was available at the time and have been very happy with it as a player and server, with one odd exception:
When I connect via HDMI to an older Onkyo TX-NR906 receiver, FLACs with sample rates higher than 96k play at their full 176.4k or 192k rates. But when I connect via HDMI to a newer Onkyo TX-NR5008 receiver, attempts to play higher bitrate files result in either 48k output (as alleged by the receiver's display) or complete silence. My first thought was that I had a bad cable or a dying port, but the same receiver will play 192k from a commercially-pressed DVD-A connected to the same HDMI port(s) via the same cable(s). I suspect the real issue lies not with CSOS or the Wandboard, but rather with the fact that at its heart HDMI is as much about preventing playback as permitting it and I've finally found two components that don't get along with each other. I mention it here more out of curiosity if anyone else is experiencing this or similar problems. On an unrelated note, I have found the server to be stable and am impressed that it can run on such a tiny, silent box. My only complaint is that it takes about three times as long to clear and rescan my 82,000+ track library than it does with a "normal" computer, but I'm guessing this has to do with the Wandboard's networking limitations and the inherent slowness of doing everything from a MicroSD card. I'm really impressed with the work that has been done on this and am thrilled the Squeezebox system is being kept alive by its fans. In fact, I'm so impressed that I think I'm going to buy and configure another Wandboard for an on-the-fence friend this Christmas. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ atrocity's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16009 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100180 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list unix@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
