its quite common and not unsual or is something special with squeezelite. Just use > nohup path/to/your/squeezelite in your ssh session to start it and close your ssh session. But if you start squeezelite as service - please quote your startup script here - may there is a Bug in it... btw: the pluginplayer from triode (also squeezelite) is far better, cause you can start and stop it like a real hardware squeezebox in the LMS Webfrontend. Try that instead.
