So my earlier report was true, the new squeezelite does prevent the
error message from appearing, and I still get the DAC into an illegal
mode where the asynchronous feedback isn't working when attempting to
play 32kHz sample rate tracks. But what I didn't know until I explicitly
tested it, was I now get pink-and-perky mode for all samples rates other
than 44.1kHz. So when I play some high resolution FLAC files at 96kHz,
or some others at 192kHz they always start up in this garbled mode, with
the feedback format set to 17.15 instead of 16.16. It is still true
that switching off the player (e.g., pressing capital Q on the
controlling Jive instance) and then pressing play always fixes the
sound.

I am now beginning to believe that it was only the snd_pcm_recover(pcmp,
err, 1) calls that allowed Squeezelite to work with my DAC at all. I've
had to revert to Squeezelite 1.3.1.

Do you recall the days of EDO and some special kernels 11 and 12 that
were meant to allow certain Tenor chips to work with the Squeezebox
Touch? Am I possibly running foul of the same faulty feedback format? I
don't suppose we have those work-arounds in the latest CSOS kernel, or
do we?

Thanks in advance
