I don't think any other screens call for list mode that are currently in grid mode. I would argue that the rule should be: use grid mode whenever we can confidently assert that there are distinctive icons or distinctive artwork for each possible selection; otherwise, use a text list. I am arguing that for the common use-case of whole-album playback, the playlist doesn't typically have distinctive artwork for each possible selection, but shares the common parent album artwork. Another corner case is the choose player screen, where the icons are distinctive only in the case that the user has different models of player in each room, which is possible but can't be relied upon. Hence for both these cases, the safe and rational choice is a text list with small icons in front of each line item. This is what you already do for the choose player screen, so no change requested there! Incidentally, when you first select an Album for playback, you do see the track list as a linear list, which is good, and perhaps it is simpler to state that we should stay consistent by always presenting information at the track level as a linear list... Anyway, no implied urgency with these requests and thoughts. Just wanted to ensure you get the feedback at some point.
