Today I do have a question for the knowing. I will not mention brand
names of the various devices involved, as I'm primarily trying to
understand _what_ might be going on. I don't want any blaming this or
that :-).
I moved my office out of home. My trusted server I left at home, taking
some NAS boxes I got for development with me. LMS is running on one of
these NAS, powering a Touch and a Transporter, plus the web UI in my
desktop's browser. This has been happily running for a few days now.
Today I fired up apps on two tablets, one each of the two major mobile
OS systems. And after not too long, "boom" goes my LMS. Crap, I would
hate a music playback system which doesn't work! I'm not used to this!
Argh... I am a frustrated SB user now. "It crashes all the time!". Or
not?
A look in /var/log/messages revealed network disconnections whenever
this happened. LMS actually ended in a restart loop: LMS would crash,
restart, and crash right again after less than a minute. Enough time to
restart playback and let the clients re-connect again to at least show
some nice artwork while crashing the network connection:

Okay, a 200GB TimeMachine job was running at the same time. But that
most likely doesn't really matter.
After the first crash listed in above snippet I shut down one of the
mobile devices. Playback resumed and continued for almost an hour, when
I decided to give it another try. As soon as the second tablet/app
connected, the server lost it's connection again, crashing LMS (or vice
versa?!?).
Now... does anybody have a good idea what might be causing this? How
could I investigate what exactly is crashing the network connection?
