Chunkywizard, I'd be looking at the simple things first. From what you say, it seems that your MicroSD card might be failing...so if possible I'd certainly backup fstab, smb.conf (if you have one), your LMS favorites file which you will find at /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/prefs. Once you have done that, I would use a new MicroSD card and load up the latest CSOS image to it. Then copy your fstab etc on to the new card. At this stage, it would be worth backing up the new "clean" image to your WHS so that in the event of SD failure you have a readily available easily installable complete backup of your personal CSOS.
