Thank you. You are right, all sorts of interesting stuff - one of which
is that the Netcomm dongle that appeared to work for 24 hours straight
used the RatLink chipset, a different one to the WiPi though. After
discovering it was a RatLink it worked for a while then froze.
So, back to the WiPi with "sudo iwconfig wlan0 power off" from the
console. Will report back how this goes.
