I have a USB DAC that has a rotary volume control. I now have lirc reacting to it and it is driving amixer (via softvol) to adjust the volume. If I use speaker-test and spin the dial then the volume changes. However, content being played by Squeezelite (even if at the same time as speaker-test) is not affected. I have set Squeezelite to output via dmix (rather than the card name).
