Well, I think I explained this many moons ago. I use external USB hard disks with 2 VortexBox servers. When I started working with the Wandboard, I used those disks to test the server with the WB. Obviously, they had the VB directory structure, (/storage/....), so I stuck with it. It wasn't a concious design decision. It was what I was already using, had been using with VB for longer than I care to remember and made for an easy life moving disks between the VB servers and WB.
